2011 Poetry Contest on "Demonstrating Respect"
The Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), the originators and promoters of CR Day, again sponsored a poetry contest on a conflict resolution theme. The winners for 2011 have been selected!
Contest details: Students were invited to submit a poem on the theme:
“Demonstrating Respect – at home, in school, or in the community”
Examples may include:
- Gaining respect peacefully
- Showing consideration when we disagree
- Importance of respect
- Connecting peace and respect
- Peaceful conflict resolution when we are disrespected
- What it feels like to be respected
Cash Prizes!!!
Poems were judged and Prizes have been awarded in three Grade Categories: 3-5th; 6-8th; and 9-12th
- 1st Place in each category wins $100
- 2nd Place in each category wins $75
- All Poems must be submitted in English Maximum of 20 Lines

Share CR Education Calendars with Educators
Another great way to get involved is to share the informative and colorful 2011 CR Education Teachers Calendar with educators and youth workers in your area. You can view the calendar online (see last year's here). By going to the ACR website (linked from the calendar page) you can use a web form to arrange to have a single calendar or a 5-pack sent to a school or youth serving organization near you. How cool is that?
